Welcome to “By’abakizi, Reimagining Her World” an exhibition that challenges and redefines traditional gender roles through the transformative power of art created with household items. This thought-provoking showcase in- vites you to explore the multifaceted narratives and creative interventions that emerge from the intersection of art and domesticity.
ARTISTS THAT PARTICIPATED
In a world where gender norms and expectations con- tinue to shape our understanding of identity and agency, “By’abakizi “ offers a space for reflection, critique, and cel- ebration. Through the ingenious repurposing of everyday household items, our participating artists invite you to
reconsider the roles assigned to women within the domestic sphere and beyond.
Each artwork featured in this exhibition serves as a testa- ment to the resilience, creativity, and ingenuity of women, challenging viewers to recognize the extraordinary within the ordinary.
From kitchen utensils to cleaning supplies, from textiles to tools, the artists have transformed these mundane objects into powerful symbols of empowerment and resistance. As you navigate through the exhibition space, you will encounter a rich tapestry of themes and narratives, each offering a unique perspective on the female experience. From questioning the historical division of labor to celebrating the hidden labor of care and nurture, the artworks presented here invite you to engage with the complexities of gender roles and the potential for change.
“By’abakazi “ is not simply an exhibition; it is a call to ac- tion, a rallying cry for solidarity and transformation. By amplifying the voices of women artists and challenging the status quo, this exhibition aims to inspire dialogue, foster empathy, and ultimately, pave the way for a more inclusive and equitable society.
Thank you for joining us on this journey of exploration and discovery. As you immerse yourself in the artistry and innovation on display, I encourage you to reflect on your own perceptions of gender roles and consider the role that art can play in shaping our collective future.
Together, let us Reimagine Her World.
